OpennEMM VMX install not doing email links

Hi,

I have a vmx install of openemm running on VMWare workstation on my laptop. i have followed the install instructions about setting up the DNS for the domain 'host' & 'news' on my domain name etc. but in the instructions on how to use it, it goes on as if it should be installed on the web server with the site?

I have it running locally and i can sent a mail but the links i have on the emailer that goes to a page on the site shows as http://www.homebuyelectrics.co.uk/r.htm ... o18kf0adqg instead of http://www.homebuyelectrics.co.uk/babyl ... -6795.html so cannot find the page. it says in the instructions that the software changes it, but how can i get it to link to the right page?? and it also does not show if the test mail i did was opened or if any of the links were pressed??

Please help...

If you want OpenEMM to leave your links unchanged you have to disable link tracking (tab trackable links, select for option trackable "not trackable").

Hi,
thanks for the reply.

I would like to have them trackable though so i can monitor who is openening then, bounces, unsubscribes etc but the instructions seam unclear. any ideas on what it could be?

Did you set the redirect domain parameter in company_tbl correctly? Does your firewall permit access to port 8080?

Hi,

I firstly logged into my domain's admin panel in the DNS settings and changed as per instruction to:

host 86400 IN A 10 [my home ip address]
news 86400 IN A 10 [my home ip address]
news.mydomainname.com 86400 IN MX 10 host.mydomainname.com

my standard record still points to the site.

and then i updated the following to reflect my domain name:

update company_tbl set rdir_domain="http://www.somecompany.com";
update company_tbl set mailloop_domain="news.somecompany.com";

but cant get to see how when i send the mail from mylaptop that it goes to the right page on the site and reports back to me that the mail has been clicked or opened.

i also disabled the firewall during my test emails.

i can change the settings you stated before about the links, but that does defeat the main function of the software so dont really want to do that it i can help it.
