Unsubscribe on import

Post by Flycs »

Hi! I'd like to unsubscribe (opt-out) recipients that are not listed in an import file (recipients are maintained in a separate system). How do I do that?

Hi Flycs,

I can think of two work-arounds, depending an the scenario you are looking for.
(We are using 6.1 but this should work with 2011 as well):

This is how I understand your scenario:
- You have an openemm mailing list with recipients
- You have an external file with recipient data
- OpenEMM recipients that are not in the external file should be deleted in OpenEMM.

Solution 1 - Old database profile information NOT needed
  1. 1. Delete the mailing list in OpenEMM and its recipients.
  1. 2. Import the external recipient list.
Soluition 2 - Old database profile information IS needed
  1. 1. Export the current mailing list with all necessary profile fields ("old").
  1. 2. Delete the OpenEMM mailing list.
  1. 3. Import your external recipients in a new mailing list ("new").
  1. 4. Import the previously exportet mailing list ("old") in the new mailing list that you have created under #3. Use the import setting "only update existing recipients".

These work-arounds may not be the best solution, but they do what you are looking for.

Best Regards
Markus
