I used the exact settings mentioned by gerb and it works for me. But I am on Linux ...
Could someone please
1. post what is written to the log when "error in dyn tags" appears (like mathias.lin did before)?
2. the file date and length of xmlback to make sure it is the right file?

could you please specify which log files you want? but:
I can't really post any log files since we switched back to the old version. and we can't afford to do switch again with no "real" profit. sorry
2. the file date and length of xmlback to make sure it is the right file?
cd C:/OpenEMM_2011/bin/
dir /O:S
19.07.2011 06:53 573.440 xmlback.exe

Not yet. I have to find a Windows PC first and check it out myself and watch the logs. Stay tuned!

The good news: I could reproduce the bug on the Windows platform and I got a nice log entry.
The bad news: It seems to be a bug in xmlback (C code) which only happens on the Windows platform. So, we have to work with Windows to track down the cause.

Okay. Is xmlback written by OpenEMM or a 3rd party tool which we could integrate in this discussion. Do you need any help, whatsoever?

No, xmlback is our tool and we have to fix it.

I am getting this issue too on Ubuntu 64 bit machine with gobs of memory.
I installed yesterday on a 32bit machine and everything was fine. The install directions don't indicate any additional requirements for x64 Ubuntu.
How can I fix this?

Any updates on this issue? Couldn't find any on the twitter wall?
Are you planning to continue the windows version? There is this post on the wall: "Doesn't anyone need a windows version" which kept me thinking

Solucion (On Centos 6.2 64):
Simple. Now check for that "Error in dyn tags." after fresh openemm 2011 installation.
All cleared up on my end.
