Cannot locate syslog.conf on Ubuntu Karmic

Hello,
I'm installing OpenEmm 6.0.1 on Ubuntu Karmic and am on step 5.1. Unfortunately, I can't find syslog.conf in /etc/. There are other syslog.* types of files there, but not one named syslog.conf specifically.
Which syslog file to I edit to enable read access to maillog on Ubuntu? Also, is there an Ubuntu equivalent to the install PDF file?
