Automatically import recipient name and company in email

I have used several other email marketing systems and they allow you to insert the first name, last name, company or any field you request by adding something like "_firstname" in the body of the email text.

I want to be able to personalize each email by the first name of the recipient, as well as insert their company name with the text as well. How can I grab this info from the recipient database, and insert these fields in the body of the email text?
