Configuration Error? Could not get email to go out!

I have been trying for over a week now. I am unable to get email to work. Documentation is poor and missing example configuration setting.
I have tried several settings for the "config.bat" with no luck.
errors I am getting:
[27.06.2008 11:46:30] 776 WARNING/ef4T927d00000001: Retry as sent to addr-mx02.addr.com failed 400: "('Connection unexpectedly closed',)"
Sometime I get "Operation timed out".
I saw email get sent one time and I have no idea why it worked and why it stopped working without any changes.
The software looks good but without email working .....!!
I have posted more details under using openEMM but I figured that I really never got around to using it. Mine is a configuration problem.
