Send mail statistics wrong

Hi,

last week we sent a marketing newsletter to more than 100,000 customers. It seemed very slow and after some days the statistics of sent mails stopped to increase at 40,000 mails sent.

Are there any known limits for max. customers to sent a newsletter?

If not, how do I determine how many mails haven been really sent to monitor, if we've an issue?

Is there a optimized config for sendmail to speed up sending out newsletters to big customer groups?
