who can recommend good hosting?

Hi there. I am new to OpenEMM and would like to know if someone can reccommend good affordable hosting (preferably in Germany) where I can be shure to not run into any problems when installing and running openemm.

You need a dedicated or at least virtual root server. Best OS choice is RHEL compatible CentOS because you can use the RPM package, but Suse/OpenSuse works too (choose tarball). Some users even operate OpenEMM on Debian.

Is VPS (virtual private server) also good for OpenEMM?

Is there anyone used the "VDS Start" (US$16/month) service of Best Hosting (http://www.webhostingru.com) for successful installation and running of OpenEMM ?

Or other VPS hosting service providers?

I don't know if virtual hosting will work. I send about 17K emails a day and that keeps a (cheap) dedicated machine busy all day every day.

I'll have to make a phone call on Monday... I've been using them for a few years now and haven't had any problems.

I also use www.hosting.com for a different server for a client (it's a Fedora / Cold Fusion set up, OpenEMM isn't used on that machine), hosting.com has got more customer support and are quick to reply to any questions or problems so they're better to use if you need more hand holding with server admin type of jobs. I don't know if they'd support OpenEMM, you could give them a call and ask.

Years ago I used Communitech.net and they were great. Then back in about 2000 they got bought out by Interland

As, right now, I am just looking for a place to have a test try on OpenEMM, and not like you already have steady business to support US$100/mth, so...

do you have any rough guest on the emails rate, e.g. 5000 emails/24hr ??, if the "VDS Start" (US$16/month) service of Best Hosting (http://www.webhostingru.com) is used?

Is it possible to config OpenEMM to schedule email batches and with a pause (say 30seconds) between batches?

Will Scheduled emails batches solve the bounce management problem?

By scheduling emails in batches of, say 400 emails/batches, will the cheap hardware response fast enough to handle the bounced emails?

Actually, I believe that the shared VPS service also have limitation on number of emails being sent within, say one hour. Shared hosting does have such limitation, e.g. 400 emails/hour maximum.

Any ideas on how to setup scheduled email batches?

Or will OpenEMM provide an option to do so in the future release?

The problem might be with permissions - you won't need batches, the application is very light on the machine.

We have been with Bytemark for a while.

Good service, and you get real servers with root access. We run OpenEMM on an Ubuntu 8.10 Virtual Machine. It is fine for our needs.
