Authentication Methods supported by OpenEMM

Which authentication methods aside from username, password is OpenEMM supporting?
Is it possible to implement a smart card authentication for example? Furthermore I've read about a WebSSO Plugin working with OpenEMM2015, is SSO implemented into OpenEMM2019 or 2020 natively? Or are modifications necessary to use SSO?
